Keerom – RI-PNG Pamtas Task Force, Raider Mechanic Yonif 413 Kostrad Kout KM 31 Post together with Keerom Regency government agencies held a field kitchen in Arso District, Keerom Regency. The construction of this soup kitchen is to help flood victims at the Kampung Swakarsa Evacuation Post.
The RI-PNG Military Command Task Force Yonif MR 413 Kostrad, Major Inf Anggun Wuriyanto said that the activities carried out by the KM 31 Kout Post were a form of concern for the people in Papua, especially in Keerom Regency.
“Rainfall during the past week that hit Keerom Regency caused flooding in almost the entire Arso area,” said Anggun in a written release in Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua, Thursday (4/2/2021).
He continued that he said that high rainfall for a week in a row caused water in a number of rivers to overflow. So, he said, causing waist-high puddles of adults.
“This has inspired the Keerom Regency government to hold a Refugee Command Post in the Swakarsa area. Kout KM 31, which is our rank post, was also involved in the establishment of a field kitchen at the Posko,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Commander of KM 31 Kout Post, Captain Inf Hervin Rahadian Jannat, said that the establishment of this field kitchen involved the MR 413 Kostrad Battalion Task Force together with the National Police.
“Today we along with several agencies such as the National Police, Satpol PP, and NGOs set up a field kitchen, so that residents who are currently at the Posko may soon get food,” he said.
Captain Hervin also said that there are at least 46 heads of families with a total of 200 residents who are in the evacuation from the Swakarsa and Arso Kota areas. He also hopes that weather conditions can return to normal so that the floodwaters can quickly recede.
“We will hold this Posko plan for the next week while awaiting further situations,” he said.
“We hope that the weather will return to normal and there will be an improvement in the disposal of water in the river so that there will be no more disasters that cause residents to flee their homes. We will also always give the best we have for Papuans, especially Keerom,” added the man who also serves as Task Force.
